Meet Karina
Born in Venezuela and based in Texas for the past 20+ years, Karina is a corporate communications leader with a long career in the energy and sustainability industries. As a new empty nester, she went looking for a new hobby and found American Mahjong. What started as a game quickly became a passion: the strategy, the community, the beautiful tiles, the table décor, all of it. She earned her certification through the Oh My Mahjong Mahji Mentor program and founded Casa Bucare to bring people together and share something she loves. She teaches in English and Spanish, with the patience of a mentor and the warmth of a Venezuelan host.
You’ll learn
- The basics: tiles, the wall, the Charleston and the card
- Strategy: choosing and switching hands, defence
- Game play: full games with guidance at the table
- Table etiquette, house rules and tips from experience
